The V-Workshop Group was formed in 2012. It provided a way to play live and for me to try out new arrangements and compositions. We met once a month in my home and have even performed several times, most notably for our friend Dave Valentin at his nursing home before his passing. Current situations have us meeting virtually once a week and growing in our knowledge of recording techniques and our continuing musical growth. Thanks to all these talented musicians who were able to record their parts from their homes.
Madre Mía is a composition written to honor my mother, Carmen Rosa Arroyo. Her Spirit arrived on this Earth on July 25th, 1927 in Santurce, Puerto Rico. She was a caring and loving woman that instilled in me the value of hard work, compassion and the power of prayer. Her Spirit left this Earth on February 19, 1997. You can feel her in her short life’s “dance” during the Percussion Interlude of this song.
